JIMMY WEBB - Catch Up Review

GIG: Jimmy Webb
DATE: Saturday 11th April  2015
VENUE: The Stables, Wavendon, Milton Keynes
COST: £22.50
OUR VERDICT: Perfect Entertainment

Seated at a grand piano, this evening was like having an intimate chat with Jimmy Webb rather than being at a gig!. Another one of life's raconteur's, we were treated to story after story from his song writing career. All told with wit, honesty and at times, poignancy.

"Highwayman," "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress," and "Up, Up And Away"  were all given an airing. As was his classic "McArthur's Park," including bawdy tales of Jimmy and Richard Harris being drinking buddies!

Although there was maybe a lack of songs played, this was more than made up for with the tales Jimmy had to tell.

Robert Plant was at the gig and was generous with his time
After the gig, Jimmy came into the foyer and spent ages meeting his fans, chatting, signing memorablia and CDs. He was so generous with his time, despite it being very late and there being a really, really long queue.

Jimmy spent ages after the gig, meeting all of the audience
His wife, Laura was a darling. She was a great saleswoman too, flogging loads of Jimmy's latest CD but took the time to chat to everyone as well. Both of them were quite taken by The Beeb's T-shirt too.
